Dates

The date is the fruit obtained from the date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) and which, dried, is especially appreciated in the Maghreb countries for its sweet taste. It is a fruit with important beneficial health properties by containing natural sugars in large quantities, fiber, proteins, as well as numerous vitamins (group B, A and K) and minerals (potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus and zinc).

For this reason, dates also have medicinal uses by acting as detersive and intestinal astringent. From the gastronomic viewpoint, they can be consumed as an aperitif or incorporated into other dishes when jams, puddings and other desserts can be prepared with them.

Piarom Dates

Piarom date is a variety of large date produced in the mountains and basins of southern Iran in Hormozgan province. It is characterized by being semi-dry with a moisture level of 15%, having a thin skin, a dark honeybrown hue, and a sweet flavour, despite containing little sugar compared to other date varieties.

It is frequently used in the preparation of cakes, jams and juices, although it can also be eaten alone as an appetizer.

It is characterized by its dark colour, its soft and fleshy texture, and its high moisture content of between 32-35%. In addition, thanks to its sweet flavour it is often used in the preparation of smoothies, salads and garnishes.

However, the colour of this variety may vary depending on the area of cultivation.
