Barberry
Barberry
The barberry is a bush whose wild red fruits once ripe are characterized by a slightly sour taste.
While in Europe they have traditionally been used for the production of jam, in South-West Asia, especially in Iran, these fruits are used for the preparation of different dishes, among them salads, rice as garnish with saffron, chicken, etc.
In addition, recent research has indicated that barberries could be useful for the treatment of diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia or hypertension.
